Skiing Keystone Colorado

We have skied a variety of places, both together and individually.  We are certainly not pros, but we’ve done enough to know what we like in a ski trip.  Let me tell you, we loved Keystone!  Three peaks, bowls, a huge variety of runs, a terrain park, night skiing, and a magical snow fort are sure to keep all ages and skill-sets entertained for days.  We had a variety of skill levels on our trip.  Mom doesn’t ski, but she was quite content to watch all the activity at the base and even went up on the gondola when we went Tubing.  My little sister had never skied before, so she spent a day in ski school, which was worth its weight in gold.  I can’t speak highly enough of the ski school here at Keystone.  Lauren is more of a “pizza” style skier. If you’ve ever been skiing, you probably know what this means…SLOW. Luckily for her, Keystone offers a 3.5 mile family-friendly trail called Schoolmarm which was just her speed.  Sister even made it down Schoolmarm a few times after she graduated from ski school.  Ryan enjoys a bit quicker pace and more challenge, so he was able to take advantage of some of the more advanced trails.  Not one of us felt bored with our options during our stay.

We stayed in River Run Village right at the base of the mountain.  Shopping, mountain activities, and dining were all within walking distance for our entire stay.  We really enjoyed that we never had to move our car during our vacation!  We kept food in our condo for breakfast and lunch, to help keep costs down, which worked really well since the condo was so close to the ski lifts.  We picked a different restaurant each evening for dinner, but our favorite was probably Kickapoo Tavern.  As with most ski towns, the food is a little more expensive in general.  There are several options for lodging right in this area that would surely offer a similar experience to River Run.

We rented our equipment through Mountain View Sports Rentals and purchased lift tickets through Epic Pass. Both transactions were basically seamless.

We look forward to returning to Keystone!  We would also love to hear your feedback.  Was this information helpful in planning your trip?  Let us know!  Check out the link below which will take you right to the website to learn more about Keystone and to start your adventure.
